LEAH WELLS
Leah Wells is a self-taught artist based in the countryside near Stratford, ON. Inspired by the “big sky country” of rural Ontario where she grew up, Wells finds endless fascination in the shifting colors and dynamic landscapes that surround her.
Wells began exploring fluid painting—a technique that combines acrylic paint, oils, and conditioners—during the pandemic. Using unconventional tools such as straws, spoons, and torches to create intricate textures and unexpected movement in her work. Her process balances spontaneity with intention, as each piece begins with carefully sketched plans inspired by the photographs she captures during her travels across Canada.
Even the frames for her paintings are custom-built and hand-crafted by Wells, serving as an extension of the artwork itself.
