Micak Contemporary Art Gallery is a new Canadian commercial gallery, located in Aurora, about 40
minutes north of Toronto. Opening our doors in November 2024, Micak Contemporary Art Gallery presents work by a range of established and emerging artists over several exhibitions annually, and a small artisan boutique.

Micak Contemporary Art Gallery's artwork selection is guided by three core principles:
Range: Artists are selected representing a diversity of genre, media and conceptual concerns, ensuring a range of potential avenues of connection to audience / collectors.​
Energy: Unquestionably art can transform the energy of a space. Art serves as the backdrop to each moment and our lives. Micak Contemporary Art Gallery believes art has the power to influence the atmosphere of its environment; impacting those within it.
Meaning: Understanding an artist’s intention and particular story is key to Micak Contemporary’s curatorial process. Focusing on artists with compelling narratives, evokes meaningful connection.

Micak Contemporary Art Gallery offers personalized art advisory services including private viewings, tailored consultations for placing art in homes or businesses, and facilitating acquisitions through an established global network of established arts experts.

About Katie Micak:
With nearly 20 years of experience working in the visual arts, founder Katie Micak launches her most recent venture, Micak Contemporary Art Gallery, bringing together contemporary artists paired with personalized art advisory services. Micak’s goal is to brings world-class art to the community of Aurora, ON, while assisting clients in starting or building a collection of original artworks.
Micak’s career includes leadership roles at the Phillips Collection (Washington, DC), the City of Mississauga, Toronto's Propeller Gallery and Spark Contemporary in Syracuse, NY. She has contributed to many projects, notably at the Royal Ontario Museum, University of Toronto’s Art Gallery, and Art in General (NYC).

Curatorial programs have been delivered for the MacKenzie Art Gallery (Regina), Toronto Animated Image Society, the Living Arts Centre, and Vector Festival (Toronto), a new media art festival she co-founded and led 2013, and 2018-2020.
​
Educated as both an artist and theorist, Micak holds degrees from Western University, OCAD U and Syracuse University, Has taught senior students at various universities. Her art and research projects have been presented internationally , and been featured in media outlets including TVO’s The Agenda, CBC Radio's The Current, The Globe and Mail, and Canadian Art.

Through these experiences Micak brings a wealth of knowledge, contacts and expertise to Micak Contemporary Art Gallery, in hopes of connecting collectors with meaningful works of art, while continuing to champion the importance of artists.
